0:42 cold and raining here in Ohio
0:45 well it’s 57 degrees here in Missouri so
0:51 I’m not gonna complain i hope that
0:52 pushes over your way a little bit so you
0:55 get to enjoy it we supposed to get rain
0:56 the last couple days and we’ve had a
0:58 couple sprinkles but that’s been about
0:59 it been pretty nice
1:01 yeah it’s it’s been real windy real
1:05 windy a never stop on the way home from
1:08 work tonight it was when the wind was
1:11 blowing so hard it was lifted no
1:12 windshield wipers off of the truck
1:15 nice yeah but about the 30 35
1:19 mile-an-hour winds coming down south
1:22 haha well yeah the south winds supposed
1:26 to be a one-win but it’s cold and don’t
1:29 make no difference a couple nights ago
1:30 it was pretty chilly here was down the
1:32 twenties and I I every time that happens
1:35 I get to thinking about Chuck because I
1:37 know he’s down there complain about it

being cold before you 50 degrees you

know and it is all bundled up like a

total all looking for a place to present

in the winter but you know when when we

get called we get cold and that was one

of the reasons that I thought tonight we

we do to prepare for upcoming seasons

and it’s not that you and I either one

don’t fish throughout the winter but

there’s things that you can do on days

that you can’t go fish to to get ready

for the upcoming season and

right you know it now is the time to be

doing it if it’s raining and i know you

just build a new garage to keep your

boat and stuff in and you can do a lot

of things in there when you’re not and

and this is the time to do all that

stuff and then without rolls around

you’re ready to take off and go to

wherever it is then you’re ready to go

yeah and actually since I do have my bar

now the very first thing you know attack

is I go to the trailer start checking

things on the trailer uh you know I did

I pull the wheels look for any dry rot

on the tires look at the tread then i go

to the bearings and check the bearing

generally i pull the bearing but Daniel

taught me that a few things about the

trailer because he’s a he drives a semi

and things that I probably have never

checked he has me now checking in it and

that’s the springs check the springs

make sure that those clips are in place

on where the springs are bolded there is

a plastic bushing that that hardened

steel bolt goes through

yeah those have a tendency of wearing

I know last year when we went through it

we pulled the one a leaf-spring off and

the boat was like war almost in half so

that that came as a real shock to me

when I saw that so I was glad that you

know he showed me something right there

and I mean it you know we just went

through the whole trailer you know you

look at that sold all kinds of different

stuff and right now I got a little bit

of a leak on my CR can i have not been

able to track that rascal down bilge

pump keeps up with a fine but you know

just I don’t know I’ve never had a leak

on this thing and now I’ve got a little

bit bleak and have it for years it out

well the number one thing on my list of

stuff to talk about tonight

the number one thing that I want to do

every winner and a lot of times before

travel long distances

stuff a lot about twice a year is

repacked the wheel bearings on a boat

now that being said a lot of these new
4:33
boat trailers don’t have packable wheel
4:35
bearings they have stuff to run a wall

or something and that you don’t have to
4:39
worry about but still need to make sure
4:40
that their full and and everything is
4:42
there are implicated one of the easiest
4:43
ways to do that is just to take a jack
4:46
and raise that up one side of your boat

trailer a time to spin the wheel funeral

yeah if you haven’t always you got a

problem you got to take care of that

whether it’s agreeable type or not and

guys think that just because there’s a

greaser on out there they can they can

pump them full of recent packs and

wheelbarrows fellows it does not pack

the wheel bearings it puts grease around

not in it fills up the void in between

the bearings in the axial and different

things but it’s not the same as pulling

them bearings out and packing now on my

boat trailer

I don’t pack wheel bearings by hand

anymore i used to do that all the time

but i have a tool that you set to greet

with thing into you put advice or you

just step on it and it forces that

grease up to that bearing it and I’ve

packed your bearings since I was a kid

before they had tools like this and you

can’t hand pack them as well as the
5:38
stuff put it in there I promise you I

was inaudible business for 30 years and

and and i’m telling you you cannot do it

as well as that machine i’ll put them in

there and it’s very simple easy use but

that’s the number one thing that needs

to be done if you have packed wheel

bearings every year before spring rolls

around was once you start fishing for

you know about that stuff next thing you

know you’re sitting on the side of the

road wondering how you’re going to get

your butt back home and always all it

takes is a crack that’s all it takes

no help around and nobody carry spare

the other thing with that is always

replace the seal don’t try to reuse that

seal for three or four bucks just put a

new one in it called today because if it

gets bent were restored in any way first

time you back into the water you got are

you got water coming in around there and

all your grease is gone and it’s not

very long you will bear your shot

they’re trying to get it jacked up and

we’ve got a hydraulic jacks and stuff we

keep in the truck with us but it’s

than the tire on the train

oh yeah and there I was couldn’t get the

spare off to put it on and these tires

look nearly new

uh in fact the spare actually had the

bluing still over the white lettering on

it from when it was new but they were

told they just had not had a miles on

there was a lot of tread left on but it

blows one of them up and I’m loaded all

the stuff that I was worried about

people take him in the back of the truck

on side of the road we took the tire

offload set on a jacket as bad as I

hated to and we have to go find a guy

that could change it and ended up just

put two new tires on again I’m telling

you when you’re standing out on the side

know there’s no discounts

that we put new tires on it but I know I

Courtney had bought a CR few years ago

and and we come out of the tournament

st. Louis and he was sitting on the side

of the road right on the interstate and

I pulled in there to see if I can help

him and he had lost a hub and he had

told me that was a second i believe

second or third hub that it went out of

that boat trader and I told he must have

from the wear on your tires the kids out

of a live men and it wasn’t that the

axle was out of alignment one side of it

set back further than the other news

just prematurely where his tires out and

and that’s what done that and we had

some ratchet straps and we ratchet strap

his axle up because it right the hub and

fold everything back this truck and he

made it home with a one tire on one side

of the dual trailer a new wheel trailer

he went back in and he checked it once

you got that fixed and put it on there

and sure enough he was like a half inch

off on the front axle compared to the

back axle which were your spring lines

but he fixed it for me and it was a good

boat trying to stay dry and water

running down the cover and it was gonna

drive down the Lord John’s coat right

down to crack this but we just sit in

out it was just that bad and it was just

miserable and you know if we hadn’t got

that bilge pump fixed we may have

something but because it runs solid the

whole time with a setting that’s our

training while and yeah that’s that’s a

lot of water but you couldn’t we was

just a good idea to safety factor it

connections if they’re in the back most

of that’s where they come up and I know

on the CR before they put them on a they

do and they put silicone around and then

shove them up on the spigots then they

put hose clamps on top of it generally

even if a hose clamp breaks it will

still hold of all very close but you

know hose clamps are known to cut loose

so absolutely and and I’ll sit there and

jiggle with stuff wearing on a boat and

I’ve actually seen hose clamps actually

that was over tightened cut into a hose

and cause damage to the outer layer of

them so it only takes a few minutes to

check this stuff out and I

while you’re in there looking at that

look at all your electrical connections

on anything

yes you can get to and make sure they’re

not corroded if they are that’s the time

to get you some baking soda and a wire

brush and get it cleaned up but about

charger i make sure that those

connections are good and clean so I’m

always getting good contact when i’m
