I picked up a new rod it is made by
0:04
tangling with catfish it’s teamed up
0:08
with Steve Douglas from Monster rod
0:10
holders and this is what we got it’s the
0:14
monster rod edition tangling with
0:17
catfish extreme series so very great rod
0:21
I have the original extreme series and
0:25
one of my favorite rods so when this
0:27
came out I knew right away I was going
0:29
to be buying it know you’re paying a
0:32
little bit extra money basically for a
0:36
different color different color scheme
0:38
and the other thing is the handles are
0:44
different we got a reel seat is just a
0:46
black anodized instead of this chrome so
0:49
all in all it’s ultimately the same rod
0:52
as the tangling catfish extreme series
0:57
it’s just red it’s got these green under
1:00
wraps it’s got the green tip it’s still
1:05
got all the other features you got
1:07
stainless steel eyes so you don’t have
1:10
to worry about your braid running
1:12
through those those inserts some of the
1:14
ceramic inserts and some of the plastic
1:17
inserts can get wore out by that frayed
1:19
but these stainless steel guides here
1:22
never seem to be an issue so the only
1:25
complaint I have really is this butt cap
1:29
in some rod holders this butt cap can be
1:34
a little too big and specifically I’ve
1:38
had the issue with drift masters no
1:41
problem with monster on holders but
1:44
drift masters they just don’t go in
1:46
there very well it’s a snug fit trying
1:49
to get this butt cap to go through that
1:52
rod holder but I don’t think I’ve had
1:55
any other issues I think maybe Scotties
1:57
rod holders but I can’t remember for
2:01
sure but I know for a fact the drift
2:03
masters this butt cap is a little too
2:06
big so I guess if
2:09
with catfish ever wanted to make some
2:11
upgrades I’d reduce this but capsized a
2:14
little bit otherwise great rot and I’ll
2:19
show you some close-ups
2:28
you
2:38
here you can get them online again it is
2:42
a little bit more expensive than the
2:45
original one think $20 or something like
2:50
that so not too terrible I mean you’re
2:53
obviously paying for just a different
2:55
color scheme the blanks to my knowledge
2:57
are the exact same so the eyes are a
3:01
little different placement here and I
3:05
don’t know if that’s just a you know
3:09
from a manufacturing standpoint if if
3:13
these are all made by machines or if
3:15
they do that somebody hand wrapping
3:17
these the guide placements are just a
3:20
little off compared to the original one
3:22
except up from the tip and and four eyes
3:25
down they’re about the same but I’m not
3:27
really too concerned about that they’re
3:29
they’re close enough and it doesn’t make
3:31
that big of a difference but I’m excited
3:35
to get out and use this I’ve added out a
3:36
couple times haven’t caught any fish but
3:38
I know what to expect because I already
3:40
have this rod just in a different color
3:42
scheme and you know the cork is a little
3:45
different so forth so if you want to get
3:48
yourself one you can order them online
3:52
at tangling with catfish and I believe
3:58 Steve has them on his website at monster
3:59 rod olders calm as well so there you go
4:03 and hope you enjoyed I’m going to go get
4:07 this thing on the water
