we want to first of all say it’s an
00:07
honor to be here and be able to do this
00:10
to be it one of the biggest well you
00:12
know I suppose the biggest conference in
00:14
the nation for catfishing is over when
00:16
we for us to be able to be up here to
00:17
speak to you guys we’re gonna do a
00:19
couple of things one that they wanted us
00:21
to talk about fishing as a family my
00:23
wife and I am and my son Spencer we all
00:26
fish as a team for the most part we do a
00:28
couple of things individually but for
00:29
the most part we we focus on fishing as
00:32
a team we’re gonna kind of walk you guys
00:34
through what we’ve done and how we’ve
00:36
acquired and accomplished what we have
00:38
after that we’re gonna talk about how to
00:40
actually approach business is to get
00:43
sponsorships we’ve been doing this for
00:45
seven years we want to see more people
00:49
develop the skill to get sponsorships
00:51
and we’re gonna teach you what we do to
00:53
do so we’ve kind of been on both sides
00:56
of it we are on pro staffs for several
00:59
different companies but we also run our
01:01
own pro staff and we’ve run our own
01:02
tackle business and our own bait
01:04
business and we’ve seen some of the
01:07
really bad stuff that comes to us people
01:09
applying for for pro staff positions
01:11
with us and we’ve also seen the
01:14
reactions we’ve gotten from some of the
01:16
other companies on what we’ve given to
01:18
them and so our perspective is just a
01:21
little bit from both sides of that how
01:23
it looks from a professional standpoint
01:25
and what the sponsors are expecting from
01:28
their anglers for a level of
01:29
professionalism and what anglers should
01:31
be should be providing to their sponsors
01:35
a little bit about us we have been
01:38
tournament fishing for seven years
01:41
individually we fish separate for a
01:44
little while we’ve been fishing together
01:46
for four years now we do try and include
01:48
our son Spencer with us for most of our
01:51
tournaments what’s been nice is there’s
01:53
a lot more tournament trails out there
01:55
that are allowing that third angler kind
01:57
of breaking the mold a little bit
01:59
everything that that the catfish
02:01
industry is doing right now is is
02:03
breaking the mold we’ve started out a
02:05
little bit on the the bass and the wall
02:07
ie plans that they
02:09
had but there’s a lot of action going on
02:12
right now to create blaze this new path
02:14
create these viel catfishing
02:18
expectations so a lot of the tournament
02:21
trails are going to allow that third
02:23
angler whether it be a youth military
02:27
disabled there’s different party
02:32
senior citizens there different
02:34
different tournament trails have
02:35
different different criteria for it we
02:38
fish as many of them as we can with
02:40
their son Spencer if he’s not able to
02:41
fish with us Eddie and I fish alone we
02:44
didn’t start out fishing together
02:45
he started out fishing on his own with
02:48
his own partner I started fishing on my
02:50
own with my own partner and it was
02:53
difficult for us at the time to find a
02:55
good fit with with a partner if you have
02:58
a boat then your partner doesn’t
03:00
necessarily want to chip in for the boat
03:01
maintenance or he’s got a habit that you
03:04
don’t really like or he’s messy you’re
03:05
clean whatever it is you it’s it’s
03:08
difficult to find a partnership well 90%
03:11
of our pre fishing 90% of our pleasure
03:13
fishing was done together we already
03:15
knew each other’s habits we already knew
03:17
how to get along together on a boat and
03:19
what to do and so it made sense to us at
03:21
the time to partner up together and try
03:23
fishing a tournament the first one we
03:25
did was terrible and it’s not always
03:28
pretty we get into fights we get intense
03:32
both of us you don’t get good sleep the
03:34
night before and then you’re crabby the
03:35
next day or whatever else but we have a
03:39
goal in mind of what we want to
03:42
accomplish together and being able to
03:44
work together for that helps us
03:47
accomplish those goals that we’re
03:48
looking for Eddie is the Coast Guard
03:50
captain he just recently got his
03:52
captain’s license he’s a guide I work as
03:55
a graphic designer
03:56
together we’ve just started fish heart
03:58
industries we are creating print work
04:01
and design work for anybody within the
04:04
fishing industry and so we are offering
04:06
services to individual anglers if they
04:10
need business cards help with
04:13
sponsorships resumes that sort of thing
04:15
but also to anybody that might have
04:17
business we’re doing product tags and
04:19
banners a whole bunch of the stuff that
04:21
was was produced for all the booths at
04:23
the show here so if you have a business
04:26
that you’re you’re doing trade shows you
04:28
need your backdrop banners whatever else
04:30
we’re at a unique position for this and
04:32
that we’ve been involved in the fishing
04:33
industry for a really long time so we’re
04:35
familiar with the logos we’re familiar
04:36
with the needs of the angler and the
04:39
product yep we do center piece right
04:47
here in front he’s he’s hard not to fish
04:50
with because he’s so good and he does
04:51
such a great job in the boat and
04:53
incorporating our child into our fishing
04:55
was big for us because we travel a lot
04:56
and we wanted to make this a family
04:58
thing we wanted our kids to be with us
05:00
we want him to be there we want him to
05:02
fish with us and he is a little bit
05:05
about him he’s in seventh grade he’s
05:07
been turned to fishing for three years
05:08
the kid has had numerous wins he
05:11
purchases his own fishing equipment we
05:14
just actually got him into video
05:15
equipment because like a kid he needs
05:18
something else to do while he’s on the
05:19
boat rather than just focus on fishing
05:21
so we ended up getting him a little
05:23
video equipment we’re hoping that he’ll
05:24
evolve on that and start editing to give
05:27
him something to do when he gets bored
05:29
giving a kid something to do when
05:31
they’re bored is big in fishing if you
05:33
don’t have one when you do have one or
05:35
grandkids you’re gonna understand you
05:37
can never have too many snacks and they
05:38
got to ask something to do yes several
05:42
first and second place finishes the
05:44
Spencer’s actually fished with all of us
05:46
he’s fished against us in tournaments
05:48
and he’s done extremely well with a
05:50
partner for being 13 years old just
05:53
turning 13 years old his comp and his
05:55
accomplishments are pretty high for what
05:57
he has done in his age he’s been a top
05:59
junior angler and he I’m teaching him
06:01
how to drive the boat last year he
06:03
actually drove the boat quite a bit I
06:05
want him to buy next year to be able to
06:07
back to boat up and take it out by
06:08
himself I want him to take me fishing
06:10
instead of me taking him fishing so I
06:12
include him he feels like he can do
06:14
something you want to go to the next one
06:17
please
06:20
go ahead
06:26
like Eddie touched on we travel a lot we
06:30
work a lot and the fishing tournaments
06:32
together does give us an opportunity to
06:34
spend time together as a family whether
06:36
it’s pleasure fishing or tournament
06:38
fishing but what what really makes us
06:41
work together good as a team is that we
06:43
all have a specific job we all know all
06:47
of the parts a lot of the ladies I’ve
06:49
talked to today with at the chick fight
06:51
booth we’ve talked about learning all of
06:54
the parts and pieces to what it takes to
06:56
go out and fish when we first started
06:59
fishing together he’d be sitting at the
07:01
dining room table putting together you
07:03
know I call her harness and hey babe
07:05
hand me that blade and I’d look at the
07:07
table parts full of you know who knows
07:09
what be like is this a blade no is this
07:12
a blade so I asked him to teach me I
07:14
asked him to go through step by step and
07:17
show me how to tie a knot what a basic
07:19
rig is made up of what the different
07:20
hooks are called and then once I had a
07:22
basis of knowledge I started adding on
07:25
to that and learning it
07:26
spencer’s add a little bit of an
07:28
advantage because he’s grown up with
07:29
this he you know at 3 years old he’s
07:31
sitting at the table with us learning
07:33
the names of these things and and these
07:35
hooks as well but we don’t we don’t
07:38
separate out Eddie does this and does
07:42
this and does that Spencer does that and
07:44
nobody can do any of the rest of it we
07:47
all learn the different parts of it but
07:50
we all take part in each step if that
07:54
makes sense so like if we’re getting
07:56
ready to animal make launch will put the
08:01
launch away all Santas Spencer Spence
08:04
don’t put in the boat everybody kind of
08:06
has a position on the boat if we catch a
08:08
fish
08:08
if hands are on it in I grab the net
08:10
Spencer moves another rod out of the way
08:12
everyone as soon as something happens we
08:15
all have a focus on where we need to be
08:17
and what we need to do to make it all
08:18
collaborate I fished with a lot of guys
08:20
prior to Anne and I had guys that were
08:23
on their phones during tournaments I had
08:24
guys that wanted to
08:25
I had guys that wanted to sleep during
08:27
the tournament and it got a groove a
08:29
ting because I was there too
08:31
essentially I want to it’s not the money
08:35
a fee award
08:35
I love having an award I love win an
08:37
award and I love putting that on my wall
08:39
makes me feel good about what I’ve done
08:40
and to combat that with what we did is
08:45
we figured a breakdown out for everybody
08:47
where everybody has a position on the
08:49
boat and everybody feels necessary
08:50
whether you’re catching fish or not
08:52
you’re part of the team and your team
08:54
getting the first-place victory is more
08:56
important than if she’s upset because I
08:59
grabbed her rod if it’s he’s sitting
09:04
closer to the rod I’m sitting back and
09:07
you know tying up rigs or getting it
09:11
line reeled out again I expect him to
09:15
grab that pole it’s not my Pole his pole
09:17
his poll that said we do all take part
09:23
in that as well
09:24
I’m not one of those fishermen that just
09:25
sits on the front of the boat and looks
09:26
pretty we don’t take Spencer out with us
09:28
and and have him expected to to not
09:31
carry his weight as well he pulls up the
09:33
anchor he reels in fish he knows you
09:36
know he’s a phenomenal net man we we all
09:39
take part in in all of that stuff
09:41
together
09:41
we’ve got got a little bit of giveaway
09:44
as one thing would you know where we’re
09:46
getting ready to go we go do a
09:48
tournament we love rig wraps and he’s
09:52
he’s one of our sponsors Glenn’s here
09:54
somewhere we’ve got
09:58
yeah for those of you that have never
10:01
heard of rig wrap or you don’t have an
10:02
understanding of rig wrap I would
10:04
suggest there’s a whole bunch of them
10:06
here and these boots go check them out
10:08
they make a big difference on saving
10:10
time when you’re in the boat your prep
10:13
works done all you have to do when you
10:15
break off is pull that leader out and
10:17
tie it and we will have a few more if
10:19
you didn’t get one you’d really like one
10:21
please come up and we’re done you can go
10:24
ahead to the nether to the next side
10:25
please
10:26
quick little there’s a little tab on the
10:29
side Oh yep little tab on the side just
10:34
use the side of your thumb to do that so
10:37
these make it really easy we sit around
10:39
our coffee table in a living room
10:42
watching TV getting ready for a
10:44
tournament and we’ve got all of the
10:45
hooks and line and swivels and beads and
10:49
floats and everything sitting there and
10:51
we assembly line it so I sit there and I
10:54
tied the you know cut 15 leader lines
10:57
tie all the hooks on to them pass it off
11:00
to Eddie and he slides the bead on
11:02
slides afloat on ties the swivel on the
11:05
end of it passes a dispenser Spencer
11:07
drops the hook and the rig wrap twists
11:09
it around shove it and it goes into the
11:11
rigged case we can get a full rig pack
11:13
you know thirty of these yeah with fifty
11:17
of them then we can have that done in in
11:21
20 minutes and then when were out on the
11:24
boat during that tournament they’re
11:26
separated by hook size or bead size or
11:28
whatever else we don’t spend that time
11:31
we only have to take one tackle box we
11:32
were fishing in a very very small boat
11:34
with three of us there’s not a lot of
11:36
storage room you got to have a live well
11:38
you got to have everything else with it
11:39
so we didn’t have room for a whole bunch
11:42
to tackle these have been nice because
11:43
we can pack everything we need get it
11:46
all stowed into one little case about
11:48
that size and not have to take anything
11:51
else with us
11:55
like a lot of people I’ve seen you catch
11:57
a big fish you think you’re a good
11:59
fisherman you want to advance yourself
12:00
in fishing excuse me and you think that
12:05
people should notice that especially
12:07
this day and social media people think
12:08
that I caught a big fish look at me it’s
12:11
time for people to start giving me some
12:12
stuff that’s not how it works
12:14
when this first started I had companies
12:16
approach me mainstream media companies
12:19
now I won’t say any names they
12:21
approached me and asked me to submit a
12:22
resume this is before I started fishing
12:24
with my wife I submitted my resume to
12:26
him I follow up a week later asked if
12:28
they got it see if they’ve called me
12:30
back email and I heard nothing for a
12:32
moment not a thing I was aggravated
12:35
I was extremely aggravated so rather
12:37
than letting the aggravate me to the
12:39
point where I was going to quit I didn’t
12:42
take no as an answer I didn’t take them
12:45
disregarding my application my resume
12:48
giving it to them and taking those an
12:51
answer when we started out we had three
12:54
sponsors and our picture is not up there
13:02
we had three sponsors each one of those
13:05
sponsors gave us $50 each our first year
13:08
that was huge to us I thought it might
13:11
not sound like a lot now but that
13:14
started everything that we wanted to we
13:16
had three companies that were willing to
13:17
give us something it wasn’t a no it
13:20
wasn’t a no response they had faith in
13:23
what we’re doing and it was the worst
13:24
year I’ve ever fished in my life it
13:27
literally was brake controller motors
13:29
braking pros
13:31
every time I went through a tournament
13:32
something went wrong something broke it
13:34
was a very very
13:38
what’s that the year I even had a mental
13:41
breakdown what was that the year we put
13:43
the pitchfork underneath the let me rock
13:46
protect it from rocks that doesn’t work
13:48
so well when I started attending one of
13:50
our longtime sponsors he he kind of
13:54
loudly at us
13:54
he said when he gave me the $50 check he
13:57
said I can amuse your pipe dream and he
14:00
had a big smile on his face he laughed
14:01
and those were the most determinating
14:04
words I’ve ever heard of my life when he
14:06
told me that he thought it was a joke he
14:08
didn’t think we would do anything after
14:10
this year we wouldn’t ask for nothing
14:12
again he heard all the horror stories
14:13
that we went through through that year
14:14
he thought for sure the second year we
14:16
were done that again gave us that that
14:19
statement I can amuse your pipe dream
14:22
gave me more ambition to move forward
14:25
and work harder than anything I have
14:27
ever heard of my life no was easy trying
14:31
to swallow that was hard having somebody
14:33
tell you more or less the smile on their
14:36
face that you’re gonna fail what are you
14:38
gonna do you’re gonna fail are you gonna
14:40
go out and you’re gonna go hard well I’m
14:43
not gonna fail as I said we started out
14:48
with fifty bucks each who having people
14:50
haven’t people believe in you is huge in
14:53
confidence huge it doesn’t matter what
14:54
it doesn’t matter if they give you a
14:55
rigged rap that’s that could be the
14:57
start to any of this it’s any of this
14:59
that you want to move forward with we’re
15:05
having to our pictures our pictures are
15:09
gone please
15:12
you can be honest I’d like to resume so
15:16
it like that like it’s it’s I’ve heard
15:20
people say it’s like the job resume you
15:22
can get a template off the internet with
15:25
this when this started there was no what
15:28
you could do have you ever googled
15:30
phishing resume have any of you ever
15:32
tried to google that what did you find
15:35
what else what you don’t find any
15:40
information and these guys are coming
15:43
out with videos and they’re saying don’t
15:46
do this
15:46
Louis you better not do that Justin you
15:49
better not write them hey you don’t ask
15:52
me for free stuff that’s all you hear
15:54
them say all of it’s all negative are
15:56
you here this is how I do it this is how
15:59
I do it me me i I that’s not what it’s
16:02
about it’s about you guys and how you
16:04
can do it and how you can make it stand
16:06
out to where those companies actually
16:08
pay attention to you correct we didn’t
16:11
have anything to follow we created this
16:13
based off of what we wanted that’s how
16:16
we created what we’re doing now it was
16:19
based off of what our hour drive was so
16:24
we kept driving we kept moving forward
16:26
we started a resume we started adding to
16:30
that resume on that resume we added
16:32
things that we felt were significant our
16:35
resume is currently five pages long I
16:38
heard it I heard in a video recently
16:40
that you should have this real short
16:42
sweet resume well let me explain
16:43
something you about fishing and a job
16:45
and fishing I worked hard for everything
16:48
I have on that resume all five of those
16:50
pages no one has any idea how hard you
16:53
work for it unless you’ve been there and
16:55
you’ve done it or you’re looking to do
16:56
it I’m gonna put down everything that
16:59
I’ve done on that resume and I want them
17:01
to see it I’m gonna put down all my
17:03
social media I’m gonna put down all my
17:05
audio-visual I’m gonna put down every
17:07
magazine article I wrote for it I’m
17:08
gonna put down everything every
17:11
tournament I fished I put down there now
17:12
I’m not listening to each individually
17:14
for the years past I’ll put I had five
17:16
second places and I had two third places
17:19
etc etc for the years prior I’m gonna
17:21
put what I plan on doing
17:23
next year these are the steps that I
17:26
think is necessary because we have our
17:29
resume to people and they the people we
17:31
hand them to not one of them hasn’t said
17:34
that’s very impressive
17:36
they haven’t went lost too much
17:37
information I don’t want to read it or
17:40
that’s not enough information they’ve
17:41
said this is a very impressive resume
17:43
now that’s how you stand out that’s how
17:47
you want to present yourself to them
17:49
show them that you’re determined you
17:51
have the drive you want to move forward
17:53
with this
17:57
can you go forward don’t worry about the
18:00
picture I’d rather just have you go
18:01
forward account so with that being said
18:07
resume logistics a good resume is not
18:11
built overnight believe me my first
18:13
resume it was it sucked if I showed it
18:16
to you you guys would love it was
18:17
terrible after my first year I started
18:21
writing to magazines and I said hey I’m
18:24
a writer I would like to submit some
18:26
columns would you guys be interested 1
18:29
out of 3 would answer me and say submit
18:32
it when I submitted my writing they
18:34
accepted it now I’m published in a
18:36
magazine it doesn’t matter if it’s the
18:39
Pennysaver it doesn’t matter if it’s a
18:40
it’s a local newspaper article it
18:44
doesn’t matter you’re putting your foot
18:46
in the door and that’s one more thing I
18:47
can add to my resume so I’ve written for
18:50
Montana fishing hunting news I write for
18:52
the catfish conference I write for
18:53
catfish now who else do I write for
18:56
outsider tackle box
18:57
I started off me writing one story for
18:59
one magazine then then I could tell
19:02
people hey I don’t just write for
19:04
Montana hunting and fishing news I write
19:07
for the newspaper
19:08
hey I don’t just write for the newspaper
19:10
because now I’m getting approached by
19:11
people to do things that’s how it all
19:14
starts with that kind of stuff now you
19:16
don’t have to be a writer to do stuff
19:18
like that you can do the audiovisual
19:19
stuff
19:20
adding a little every year even if it
19:23
seems insignificant even if you don’t
19:24
think it matters on our resume when the
19:27
last two years we put we fished possum
19:29
kingdom cat masters that tournament
19:31
kicks my butt
19:32
and I keep going back because it’s one
19:34
of the hardest places I’ve ever had to
19:35
fish until I figure it out I’m going
19:38
back until I win it and then after I win
19:40
it I’m gonna go back and I think my butt
19:42
kicked again we got 40 third one year 50
19:45
second the second year are those great
19:47
standings no they’re not but they go on
19:50
my resume because I’ve showed up there
19:51
and I fished hard there’s a lot of
19:54
people on the couch and on Facebook
19:56
lands that are gonna go you suck you
19:57
didn’t do that good I’ve showed up I’d
20:01
beat over half the field so why why is
20:06
it important to keep track of this stuff
20:07
why is it important to to do the writing
20:10
to do the little five-minute videos on
20:12
Facebook because that’s what your
20:14
sponsors want to see from a business
20:16
standpoint businesses have Pro staffs to
20:20
increase their business they don’t pick
20:22
Pro staffs on on popularity contests on
20:26
looks on on anything other than what can
20:29
this angler bring to my business what
20:32
type of exposure can this angler bring
20:34
to me and so your job as a sponsored
20:38
angler if you choose to do that is to
20:40
expose your sponsors to as many other
20:43
sources as you can and it’s a varied
20:46
thing a little bit here a little bit
20:48
there a little bit here that said keep
20:52
it and then with her saying that always
20:54
keep your resume updated it doesn’t
20:58
matter if you’ve done one thing or ten
20:59
things before you give it to somebody
21:01
else anything that you can add on it is
21:03
gonna be significant at that time when
21:05
you submit that resume to somebody so as
21:07
les more I don’t think so I think more
21:09
is better you’re showing them how hard
21:11
how determined you are you’re showing
21:13
them where you’ve been where you’re
21:15
going and what you plan on doing can you
21:18
switch the slide for me putting it all
21:22
together this so like I said when we
21:25
started this we didn’t have a template
21:26
there was nobody that said hey man do
21:29
this do this do that this is what you
21:31
need there were
21:31
not in person so we started with what we
21:36
thought was right
21:37
we got positive feedback again we
21:39
started building on it she has some
21:40
samples of my resume this is our actual
21:43
resume now name and contact information
21:47
of grammar number one if you can’t spell
21:51
you spell check please it’s a really
21:53
neat thing you hit a button it runs
21:55
through everything all of a sudden you
21:57
can spill everything it’s pretty neat
22:01
how that works
22:02
name and contact information they want
22:04
to know who you are they want to know
22:06
where you live
22:06
correct what’s your name young man in
22:09
the in the retired hat Mike what are you
22:12
from Mike you’re from Murray
22:15
so Mike Murray he’s gonna fill out a
22:17
resume he’s looking for sponsors how old
22:20
are you Mike from Murray yeah he’s 42
22:24
years old he looks good for his age Mike
22:28
do you have social media you do do solas
22:32
media and you’re 46 so Mike being 46 a
22:37
handsome young man he probably has 2500
22:40
followers
22:40
Mike’s gonna want to add that on to his
22:43
on to his out resume audio visual
22:47
presence people kind of get confused by
22:48
this this could be being on catfish
22:50
weekly this could be you doing your own
22:53
little show on Facebook this we YouTube
22:55
I at the same time when I was building
22:58
my resume I reached out there was a TV
23:00
show and Montana called the Big Sky
23:03
outdoors it was all about trout cuz
23:06
that’s all anyone thinks about in
23:07
Montana’s trout and I reached out to him
23:09
and he said I’ve never seen a catfish
23:11
I’ve never caught one I would love to
23:13
come film for you I was on I got this I
23:16
got to be on the show three different
23:17
times and it’s a statewide film show so
23:20
the whole state of Montana got to see me
23:22
fishing for catfish which is pretty neat
23:24
I know in all of your areas there has to
23:26
be some kind of small TV show or program
23:31
even if it’s on YouTube that you can
23:33
take part of so you can put it in there
23:36
if Lewis hooked up with Justin Justin at
23:38
a YouTube channel you
23:40
had that Lewis is gonna put that he was
23:42
on justice YouTube channel nowadays that
23:45
goes that goes further to the most
23:47
YouTube’s huge one thing to with the
23:50
print work every every local city every
23:54
local state has some type of outdoor
23:56
magazine outdoor newspaper send them a
23:59
fishing report send them a quick recap
24:02
of a tournament that you went to you
24:04
actually started all this the exact way
24:07
with the newspaper is we sent them we
24:10
sent our our fishing pictures to the
24:12
outdoor section it’s called your shots
24:15
they started publishing our fishing
24:17
pictures in the in the newspaper well
24:19
then they asked us after that if we
24:21
could start doing the weekly fishing
24:22
report through the summer because they
24:24
saw that we were serious fishermen that
24:27
I need simple things like that that’s
24:29
more that you get to add to your resume
24:30
you submitted your picture your pictures
24:32
of the newspaper you take that that’s
24:34
now part of your resume
24:35
that’s one more piece of paper that you
24:37
can add little tip of advice if your you
24:41
written your story you’re ready to
24:43
submit it to somebody you have no idea
24:45
where to send it to usually inside page
24:47
of the front newspaper will have contact
24:49
information about who they’re
24:51
editor-at-large is especially for the
24:54
the outdoor section and every magazine
24:57
that’s printed you open it up inside of
25:00
the first page will have editor
25:02
information and contact information in
25:04
there start cold calling send it out
25:06
make 300 copies one trick that we do to
25:09
get our information in front of people
25:11
we mail hard copies we don’t email stuff
25:14
anymore
25:15
used to be that you had 500 pieces of
25:17
mail and three emails now you’ve got 300
25:20
emails and five pieces of mail if you
25:22
are sending an actual physical resume in
25:25
the mail to a sponsor they’re gonna open
25:27
it up and they’re going to take a look
25:28
at it and it’s we don’t just send our
25:32
resume we get manila envelopes and we
25:35
take every magazine article we’ve ever
25:37
written we take every newspaper article
25:38
we’ve ever been in we take every
25:40
possible thing we can we photocopy and
25:43
we add it in there so now you don’t have
25:45
a packet with a piece of paper in it you
25:47
have a pack with 60 pieces of paper it
25:50
now you tell me how many people get mail
25:52
nowadays besides you’re not wanted out
25:56
there how many people get emails and
25:59
don’t open them I get like 17 a day now
26:04
I’m gonna say tell you if from a matter
26:06
of importance if I send my if I send
26:09
mail a little Mike Mike’s probably gonna
26:12
open that mail just out of sheer
26:13
curiosity of what’s in it correct that’s
26:17
how you’re gonna put yourself in front
26:19
of those sponsors and stand out more
26:20
than everybody else that writes and says
26:23
hey can I have approached that position
26:25
you have to stand out you have to put
26:27
yourself in front of them and this is
26:29
going to be one of the best ways to do
26:31
it pro staffer trying to recruit these
26:36
businesses to to staff you your job is
26:39
to let them know what you can do for
26:42
them you you need to sell yourself and
26:45
your ability to represent their company
26:48
this is this is a job it’s absolutely a
26:51
job and it also depends on what they’re
26:53
giving you
26:53
we have sponsors that give us product we
26:55
have sponsors that pay us and we have
26:57
sponsors that newbold
26:58
you give us products and they pay us now
27:01
with that being said you need to an
27:04
accept an offer that fits your goal
27:05
never feel bad if you have to say no if
27:09
you have to turn somebody down because
27:11
you don’t think it fits what you have or
27:12
what you’re doing or what you want to go
27:14
with don’t don’t do it if 10% is okay
27:18
for you take it if it’s not don’t me
27:22
personally with what we do and how hard
27:24
we work and where we go
27:25
I won’t fish for a discount I’m not
27:28
saying that to be arrogant I’m not
27:29
saying that that Luis has to pay me to
27:31
be on his team but we’re going to
27:33
negotiate until I’m happy with what I
27:34
get until I’m happy I’m not I’m not
27:37
saying this there’s too many guys out
27:39
there and gals right now someone will
27:41
come at them and say they got a position
27:42
there they can say yes before they even
27:44
know what they got themselves into I’ve
27:45
talked to people like that well now I
27:47
got to get out of it it’s okay to say no
27:50
don’t ever feel obligated that you have
27:53
to be sponsored by any of these
27:54
companies for any specific reason
27:58
should be familiar with the company as
28:01
well do your research ahead of time we
28:03
fish for companies with within the
28:05
catfish industry we fish for the
28:07
companies that we know and the products
28:09
that we believe in that products that we
28:11
have personally used not just because
28:13
we’re known and somebody said hey can
28:16
you be on our pro staff we want your
28:17
exposure know these are companies we
28:19
actually know and we’ve turned down
28:20
several different large companies who
28:23
have wanted to use us for exposure but
28:25
we we don’t we had a company call us we
28:31
have no knowledge of their product this
28:32
is a winner go yep and they said hey you
28:37
know we’re just having your honor Pro
28:38
staff on our Pro staff when I said okay
28:40
well what would you and they they called
28:42
us mind you I never sent him a resume
28:44
they will watch our social media etc etc
28:47
they approached us they called me they
28:50
said I said well what are you willing to
28:52
offered they said 50% off I said alright
28:57
and he said and you got to drop your
28:59
tackle or your tackle company your bait
29:02
company your rod company essentially
29:06
they want us to drop all of our sponsors
29:07
I had anything to do with the fishing
29:08
industry because they had it all and
29:10
they were gonna provide it all for us
29:13
and I tell the guy I said you know I
29:16
said please don’t take this personally
29:17
but I said until you’re gonna pay me
29:20
don’t call me back that was one of the
29:23
hardest things I’ve ever had to do
29:24
because it was one of the biggest
29:25
companies that’s out there right now one
29:27
of the biggest companies that has
29:28
everything you don’t have to go to and
29:31
have 16 different small assess for it
29:33
I’m a very loyal man to my sponsors they
29:35
take very good care of me
29:37
I’ve never touched one of these rods or
29:39
used one of these folks that this
29:41
company you process with now for me to
29:43
go hey you know what let’s go that’s not
29:47
going to tell you guys much about
29:49
integrity and fishing and what you
29:50
should and shouldn’t do if you’re not
29:52
familiar with the product and someone
29:54
offers you a spot start it out where you
29:56
say I would like to you to send me
29:58
something to try first so I do know what
30:01
I’m getting myself into
30:02
let me purchase something to try first
30:04
so a lot of beginning anglers approach a
30:06
lot of companies and this is coming from
30:08
the business side of
30:09
and say oh hey you know I really like
30:11
your stuff I want to check it out can
30:13
you send me some free stuff that’s not
30:15
the right way to go about getting a
30:17
sponsored position either every company
30:20
that’s out there is getting hit up five
30:22
or six times a day
30:23
so you think five or six times a day
30:25
over the course of two or three years
30:26
they get second see in that you you have
30:28
to approach them with a professionalism
30:31
and doing your research ahead of time
30:36
being aware of what their company is
30:39
what they stand for who they are and who
30:42
you are to make sure that it’s that it’s
30:44
a right fit don’t just approach your
30:46
company and say oh hey this is really
30:48
cool can I have something for free well
30:50
if you’re good if you can’t find a way
30:52
to contact a company there are some
30:54
companies you can’t find addresses for
30:55
you can’t find phone numbers for it’s
30:58
okay to send them an email but be very
31:00
professional short about it hi my name
31:03
is Saul Saul I would like to seek a
31:05
position on your Pro Staff how do I go
31:07
about submitting my information to you
31:09
as professionally and as short as you
31:12
can so they know that you’re interested
31:15
and you have something to give them in
31:16
the other day
31:18
I wish I had the picture I got an email
31:20
from a guy or we we started to rent our
31:24
company does resumes and pamphlets and
31:26
sponsor brochures banners etc one of the
31:28
biggest things we’ve done so far is
31:30
resumes for other people and the guy
31:33
says well I’d like approached that he
31:34
wrote me on Facebook I like a pro staff
31:35
position and I said well send me your
31:37
resume let me review and I’ll get back
31:39
to you I get an email two days later and
31:42
if it was misspelled it was about five
31:47
sentences long and it was nothing that I
31:48
asked for
31:49
I got his first his last name I got some
31:52
stuff I didn’t understand like I don’t
31:54
new kids you know how they do the OMGs
31:56
and the only chance and stuff there was
31:58
some of that in there now you can’t
32:00
approach a resume company with five
32:03
sentences that are spelled wrong and no
32:06
resume that’s the that’s the probably
32:10
the biggest thing I can tell you to
32:11
don’t do that’s my one goal outside that
32:15
you have to create this yourself we
32:18
offer an opportunity for you to be able
32:21
to step four
32:22
and standout but it’s something you can
32:25
also do on your own otherwise we
32:27
wouldn’t have given you exactly what we
32:29
do that’s exactly that’s our resume
32:31
that’s not something we made up for this
32:34
show that is what we hand to everybody
32:36
that we’re interested in potentially
32:38
being sponsored by you guys now have a
32:41
template in your hand if you’re
32:42
interested in trying to move forward you
32:44
can also talk to us more about it
32:46
and we can move we can move forward with
32:48
you the we’ll go into the last words we
32:52
try to keep our settlers fairly short
32:54
that way if you guys have questions that
32:56
for us please feel free to talk to us we
32:58
would love to discuss anything that you
32:59
would want to talk about working you
33:04
work with companies over time Louis how
33:06
long you’ve been efficient warrior rods
33:07
couple years so you you you put in work
33:10
with warrior cat rods and you haven’t
33:13
requested anything from them so at some
33:15
point when you feel that you can
33:18
approach them you already have the
33:20
individualism of you use the product
33:22
you’re familiar with the product they
33:24
know you personally they see you at
33:25
tournaments you’re gonna be a step ahead
33:27
of everybody else you owe me a step
33:30
ahead of Mike because Mike over here he
33:31
likes ripping lip rods you see what I’m
33:34
saying you want to approach approach
33:41
warrior and say over the course of the
33:43
last three years I have done this
33:46
seminar I’ve done this presentation I
33:48
know I apologized one and this is she
33:55
reminded me of something for those of
33:57
you that are serious about this which
33:58
I’m sure you are if you’re sitting here
33:59
we went into Cabela’s and we said we
34:02
want to do seminars for free and they
34:05
said well yeah I got to put that on my
34:09
resume now now Cabela’s calls me and
34:11
says hey can you come this weekend and
34:12
do a seminar for so absolutely we put
34:15
ourselves out there and offered and they
34:16
took us up on that offer and now we
34:18
could do three four or five a year if
34:20
we’d like to we could go do private
34:22
seminars in there so it’s gonna be a
34:24
matter of you coming out of your shell
34:26
and understanding what it takes to be in
34:29
the industry
34:30
your opportunities to add to your resume
34:33
finding the the niche if social media or
34:37
video isn’t what you like doing if you
34:39
like doing one on one have a have a
34:42
fishing clinic you know put put some
34:44
posters up around town we we did that at
34:46
and our bait shop a couple times just
34:48
said you know hey we’re gonna do a
34:50
clinic on bass fishing we had three guys
34:52
show up wasn’t a big deal
34:54
we sat around BS talked about talk about
34:56
bass fishing show a couple rigs did a
34:59
couple stuff the guys loved it we you
35:01
know took them out I’ve had had a good
35:03
time fishing but it was us providing
35:06
ourselves with an opportunity we were
35:07
then able to use that you know we’ve
35:09
held this you don’t want to exaggerate
35:12
what you’ve done and you resume you want
35:14
to keep everything on there in a hundred
35:18
percent honest in this day and age it’s
35:20
easy enough for somebody to go online
35:21
and and verify any information and there
35:25
are there are anglers out there who
35:27
exaggerate what they’ve done you know as
35:29
far as as catches you know the size of
35:34
the fish that they’ve caught and
35:35
tournaments they’ve been entered in
35:36
anybody can go on and verify that
35:38
information and a lot of people are
35:40
going on and verifying that information
35:42
so if you’re putting it in print if
35:44
you’re putting it in front of somebody
35:45
make sure that it’s it’s honest so you
35:48
don’t you don’t exaggerate what you’re
35:50
doing but if I say that I put on a bass
35:53
fishing clinic at the local bait store
35:56
you have a preconceived notion of that
35:58
do I need to tell you that I only have
36:00
three people there not necessarily I
36:02
need to tell you that I put on it out of
36:04
them the matter of people’s not
36:05
important it’s a matter of being there
36:06
and doing it you know one of the things
36:09
we build our fliers even if the Cabela’s
36:12
doesn’t make a flyer for us for our
36:14
event we will and we will put it on
36:16
social media that flyer is now a part of
36:19
your resume that flyer is now a part of
36:21
something you can stick into an envelope
36:22
and send off it’s not about what s Louie
36:26
hey he’s worked hard to sponsors just
36:28
don’t come up to you say hey Matt clong
36:30
I heard you’re a good fisherman jump on
36:31
board either you go get it or you’re
36:34
probably not going to get much and we
36:36
just gave you guys a lot of different
36:38
ways that you can potentially go get it
36:40
easy ways talking Cabela’s or sportsmen
36:43
or
36:44
out of me about doing a seminar send
36:45
your pictures into the into the
36:47
newspaper simple effective ways to be
36:51
able to stand out in fishermen I don’t
36:54
know if you guys read that anymore but
36:55
in the back of it that inside it it has
36:58
a trophy class fish for like catch or
37:01
release where you can get a badge and a
37:03
little certificate from them I did that
37:05
a few times to be able to put that in
37:08
there it’s easy
37:08
I caught a channel catfish that was 20
37:11
pounds it exceeded what they said in
37:13
that in that standard I just had to mail
37:16
it in with a picture and a witness now I
37:19
get to add that to my resume so you can
37:22
take all the easy things and then you
37:24
can take the complicated things or you
37:25
can do both of them and we do all of
37:26
them generally is there any way does
37:33
anyone have any questions when we’re up
37:34
here please
38:04
you want to take this and you can give
38:07
it to the next person so we can all hear
38:08
you if anyone else has a question we’ll
38:10
handle that mic you could turn it on
38:12
right there on that but let’s step back
38:13
there so we don’t get the speaker
38:15
feedback please it hit the button what’s
38:18
your name sir Rick Rick all right so so
38:25
how do you deal with with the negative I
38:29
had to delete this this thing it was so
38:31
much negative about it when somebody
38:33
well and with her being a woman and I’m
38:35
sure a lot of women
38:36
there’s not many in here at this point
38:37
but mental safe through auditory things
38:42
to her I don’t think personally neither
38:45
does she
38:45
when people saying they’re not the
38:47
negative things about me or to me or I
38:49
see negative things on the internet I
38:50
block I’d go block them I don’t have
38:53
time for it but that doesn’t remove
38:54
what’s up there already does it well
38:56
what does that matter is that affecting
38:58
is that affecting your day to day life I
39:00
mean maybe maybe it makes you look
39:02
stupid in front of a couple of people
39:03
but guess what those people are talking
39:06
about you so is it really making you
39:09
look dumb or is it the fact that now
39:11
everyone’s talking about mark good or
39:13
bad or ugly Mark’s kind of a big deal at
39:16
the moment
39:16
mark forgot suppose is blogging the boat
39:18
all right whatever it is but you’ve got
39:22
to understand you still it’s the old
39:24
saying about even bad medias good media
39:27
a perfect example I can give you is look
39:30
at Donald Trump if there’s somebody that
39:32
you could not want to be and get all the
39:35
attention who would it be it would be
39:36
the president
39:38
exactly you guys get that but when you
39:55
when when these guys go look at that do
39:59
they ever say well what’s what’s with
40:01
this video large sponsors yeah
40:04
oh our sponsors looking at our salons
40:06
we’ve been working with our sponsors and
40:07
we’re so close to our sponsors that they
40:10
don’t look at that and think oh what’s
40:11
wrong with you then
40:12
look at that and they go what’s wrong
40:13
with them why are they trying to create
40:17
problems for you well our sponsors don’t
40:20
even do that all approach them about it
40:22
won’t laugh brush it off you’ve got to
40:25
expect it the further you advance
40:26
whether you advance or not it doesn’t
40:28
matter how far you advance people are
40:30
gonna be upset with you you’re gonna get
40:33
people that don’t like what you’re doing
40:34
because typically it’s going to be
40:36
jealousy oh and you just gotta brush
40:38
that off and just keep moving forward we
40:41
learn more from Montana people don’t
40:44
even know there’s cabbage in Montana
40:45
most the time we have people in Montana
40:47
that fish for calves that don’t like us
40:49
because we are doing things like this
40:51
that’s why they don’t like us you know
41:05
anybody that’s gonna sit at home and
41:08
make comments on on Facebook could be a
41:11
keyboard warrior like that to me isn’t
41:14
worth my time or my energy and so like I
41:18
said with the president I I try and
41:20
brush it off it sucks it’s oh yeah
41:23
there’s people where I want to go there
41:25
I want to say all kinds of bad words you
41:28
know do you also contact non fishing
41:32
companies yes Andy you don’t have a
41:36
picture of your boat do you there of all
41:38
these these sponsors on your boat we’re
41:43
actually we’re buying a new boat here
41:44
shortly we sold my truck is actually
41:46
inside a shop right now as we speak
41:48
getting wrapped okay my old truck will
41:50
be wrapped my hook for my whole boat
41:52
I’ll be around and do you have to buy o
41:54
shirts and make those up yes we do so we
41:59
we approached a company we asked them
42:01
for sponsorship so we we operate a pro
42:08
staff and what was it not working I
42:14
don’t see please allow down there wait
42:18
this is this is last year Jersey accent
42:20
yes we we promised our sponsors that we
42:23
go from one year to the next we always
42:25
order our jerseys in February and we get
42:27
them a March so we wear this jersey
42:30
until the next year you asked about nine
42:35
non fishing sponsors we’ve got Jimmy
42:38
John’s we’ve got tattoo shops we’ve got
42:40
to drywall companies we’ve got several
42:42
different businesses within our
42:43
community they they provide us money as
42:47
part of their advertising budget we
42:49
include their logo on our jerseys and on
42:52
our if they’re sponsoring our tournament
42:55
series they’ll go on all of the posters
42:57
all of the social media postings and
42:58
then we do a big backdrop at the
43:00
tournaments where people take pictures
43:03
with their fish we run four tournaments
43:05
in Montana why one in Wyoming what
43:08
another circuit one California so we’re
43:11
we’re operating tournaments in several
43:12
different states and and won’t wish more
43:15
students from different states so those
43:18
sponsors provide us with money there
43:20
they’re getting their advertising on on
43:22
the jerseys and exposure at the events
43:24
and then that money goes towards our Pro
43:26
step we pay for their entry fees and we
43:29
pay for their jerseys for the year in
43:31
exchange we we expect them to work for
43:35
us we’ve asked people to Prostaff for us
43:39
before we tell them what’s expected of
43:41
it and they turn us down and they say
43:42
well that sounds like work it is being a
43:45
pro staffer is a job you are expected to
43:48
work for what it is that you’re getting
43:50
our pro staffers help us with our
43:52
tournaments each of the groups we’ve got
43:54
several different couples their teams
43:56
within in the pro staff they take over
43:59
one tournament we expect them to show up
44:01
early help set up the canopy to do the
44:04
scoreboard do the weigh-ins tear down
44:06
stay late help with security help with
44:10
anybody that’s broke down somewhere we
44:13
expect them to do that what’s nice is
44:15
with four teams and four tournaments in
44:17
Montana each team takes over one
44:19
tournament so everybody gets an equal
44:21
opportunity to fish if you’re the person
44:22
operating that tournament you’re the
44:24
last one to go out you’re the first one
44:26
to come in we typically when we were
44:28
doing them by ourselves we typically
44:29
lost an hour and a half to two hours of
44:31
fishing type with known industry
44:34
sponsors like she’s talking about with
44:36
rest
44:37
we’ve had drywall companies plumbing
44:40
companies let me explain something to
44:43
you you eat you might need some drywall
44:47
done at your house right you don’t have
44:51
drywall all right Justin does everyone
44:55
needs a plumber we take that and we use
44:59
that in our local area when it win my
45:04
award guy when he needed a plumber
45:06
diplomas new bathroom we put in guess
45:08
who I told him to call guess who’s got
45:10
that business when the guy that needed
45:13
drywall a friend of mine need a drywall
45:14
guess what I told him a call I thought
45:15
was call the drywall business so we’re
45:17
returning that business to it doesn’t
45:19
have to be industry sponsors it just has
45:22
to be people that want to sponsor you
45:23
that believe in what you’re doing you
45:25
know industry sponsors is definitely a
45:27
bonus fourth set of truck tires and
45:34
third set of trailer tires we all spend
45:36
money on tires it doesn’t hurt to ask
45:38
those companies that you’re already
45:40
spending money with if they would be
45:43
interested in sponsoring you but again
45:45
back to the professionalism with the pro
45:47
staff you have to approach them let them
45:50
know what you can do for them you’re
45:53
asking them for money they want to know
45:54
why what what what advantage will they
45:57
have by giving you some money for it you
46:00
guys have to excuse me I know my feet
46:03
hurt so bad from this concrete if you
46:05
see me dancing around that’s why did we
46:14
answer yours about about the non
46:16
industry sponsors well see we got lucky
46:21
we picked up Dale’s
46:22
homey bean tackle is your deal right
46:24
there he has a booth here great guy it’s
46:28
all about I don’t know what we did right
46:31
but I mean the same thing if you have a
46:33
question he’s one of our sponsors ask
46:34
him ask him what he looks for you know
46:37
that’s the other thing that you can do
46:38
is you could reach out to some of these
46:39
guys and say what what do you want from
46:41
me or how do I go about approaching you
46:43
or what work it out you know it’s not
46:46
really extra it’s not as difficult as
46:48
people think it’s a matter of being
46:50
professional when you doing preparing
46:53
ahead of time there are a lot of
46:54
companies that do have specific Pro
46:56
staff requirements especially some of
46:57
the bigger rod companies some of the
46:59
bigger real companies you go onto their
47:01
website they will have instructions on
47:03
how to apply for oh yeah you can only
47:05
apply in October yeah you can only apply
47:07
at this time and you can there’s a lot
47:10
of timelines expectations they want to
47:12
resume pictures of boats you know they
47:16
they want to see the whole Nolan
47:19
Commission support with them do it step
47:23
by step give them all of the
47:25
requirements they’re asking for because
47:27
they’re getting a whole bunch of
47:28
incomplete ones that they’re tossing out
47:31
they don’t look at if you don’t have all
47:32
of those steps if you don’t submit it in
47:34
the right amount of time you may as well
47:35
not be submitting it if it was about you
47:47
if I mail without you’re gonna generally
47:49
know how long it’s gonna take to get
47:50
there you know so if you mail something
47:53
from New Jersey to Oakland Oklahoma try
47:56
to take about a week to get there so
47:58
give them two or three weeks if you
48:00
don’t hear back and follow up with them
48:01
I follow up twice possibly a third time
48:05
if they don’t contact me by the third
48:07
time I will never fish their product
48:10
again tell me no I’m okay if when I
48:13
approach Dale and talk when Dale or I
48:15
came to an agreement on what we what we
48:17
did with the pro step if they would have
48:20
told me no I still would buy secrets
48:22
from deal because Dale had at least the
48:25
courtesy to respond to my request now if
48:28
I Mike Mike over here his lead his lead
48:32
he thinks better deals and Mike won’t
48:34
respond to me I’m not going to buy
48:35
nothing from Mike now and it’s not
48:37
because I don’t like Mike it’s because
48:40
have they should have the common
48:42
courtesy to say we’re not seeking
48:44
professional staff right now they should
48:46
say we’re not seeking no just know we’re
48:50
not seeking anything or we’re seeking
48:52
somebody but you’re either you don’t
48:53
have the proper qualifications whatever
48:56
excuse they give you a response is going
48:58
to go a lot further than acting like
49:00
they never got anything
49:02
we do oh absolutely oh yeah the next
49:09
year also emitted another application
49:11
absolutely we’ve had a company tell us
49:13
that we submitted to that he didn’t see
49:16
how he could help us further ourselves
49:17
so he didn’t feel comfortable sponsoring
49:19
us cool enough said sounds good to me
49:22
thank you for your time I always in it
49:25
with thank you for your time if they
49:27
don’t respond I mean I usually leave the
49:29
same kind of message it’s their time I
49:31
try to follow up with you I’ve had no
49:33
response thank you for your time I’ll be
49:35
moving on does it matter if I don’t buy
49:38
seeker some mic maybe not to mic but to
49:40
me it does no I’m not gonna go tell
49:43
what’s your name I’m not gonna go mic
49:46
don’t go to Diane don’t go to Mike
49:48
because he’s mean or heat’s don’t you
49:52
can do whatever you want and that’s
49:54
that’s one thing to remember too if you
49:56
gain sponsors or lose sponsors keep it
49:59
professional there isn’t any reason to
50:02
bad talk anybody else in this industry
50:04
there isn’t it it does not benefit you
50:08
as an angler to talk badly about a
50:11
company because any company you approach
50:12
then next is gonna be a little bit
50:15
worried that if you leave you’re gonna
50:16
talk bad about them too it’s best to
50:18
keep everything neutral it’s best to
50:20
keep on good terms if you do happen to
50:23
leave a company on bad terms say you you
50:26
and the owner getting a great big huge
50:27
screaming fight you disagree about you
50:30
know whatever it is that you disagree
50:31
about it doesn’t need to be broadcast on
50:34
Facebook it doesn’t need to be texted to
50:37
all of your friends and and messages
50:40
posters you don’t need to talk smack
50:42
about them at every chance you get let
50:45
it lie
50:45
just let it let it be let it die down
50:48
one thing you need me as simple as I
50:52
haven’t used that product or I no longer
50:55
use that product limiting that and let
50:58
other people form their own opinions one
51:00
thing I’ve been pretty proud of our
51:01
sponsors with is I I have a tenant
51:04
attendant seem to speak my mind I have
51:06
no problem speaking my mind I’ve been in
51:09
all-out fights with my sponsors like my
51:11
wife we have we’ve argued
51:14
we’ve screamed at each other and when
51:17
it’s all done there’s still my sponsor
51:19
because I respect what they have to say
51:20
and they respect what I have to say
51:22
because we got into a pissing match over
51:25
whatever it was we’re not true I’m not
51:28
dropping them they’re not dropping me we
51:31
got out what we need to get out next
51:33
time we see each other we give each
51:34
other how can we keep moving that’s
51:36
having a good sponsor compared to having
51:38
a sponsor where if you say man you know
51:40
I I don’t want to say any specific
51:43
product because I don’t want you think
51:45
that it has anything to do with anyone
51:47
we fish with this specific product has
51:50
this wrong with it how can we fix it
51:51
I’ve talked to my sponsors about that
51:53
stuff and they say we’ve been working on
51:56
it we’ve heard about it this is what
51:57
we’re trying call at least you know that
52:00
they’re trying to make a better product
52:02
not keep it the same uni it’s okay to be
52:05
wide open like that but if you’re wide
52:07
open like that and they come back at you
52:09
and they’re mad and they don’t want you
52:11
on their pro staff
52:12
you’re better off leaving and it’s
52:14
better off for you not to be there
52:16
because you’re all you’re doing is
52:17
trying to when you have sponsors I’ll
52:20
end it on this I think we have another
52:21
seminar coming up I’ll end it on this
52:23
when you have sponsors you are
52:25
responsible for the products that you
52:27
sell if I sell Justin something and it’s
52:30
junk and Justin don’t like it Justin’s
52:34
not gonna trust anything else I tell him
52:36
about anything else that I’m sponsored
52:37
by ever again we don’t want that we want
52:41
Justin to go man that was awesome I want
52:44
to try some of this no that’s what our
52:47
goal is you know what
53:00
one thing that’s really really great for
53:02
us right now today is the variety of
53:06
products that we have
53:07
fifteen years ago there was to saltwater
53:10
rods dissidents early as five years ago
53:13
really you know to you know to salt
53:15
water real so we could use at a handful
53:17
of us and now
53:19
[Music]
53:22
learn what type of equipment what type
53:25
of rigs and hooks and everything else
53:27
that could work best for you the most
53:29
successful fisherman is the one that has
53:31
confidence myself it doesn’t matter what
53:34
size fish you’re catching people it
53:37
surprises us still that people know us
53:40
we’re from Montana their channel catfish
53:42
we’re not doing anything spectacular
53:44
anything too great at all we’re trying
53:46
to contribute to your industry we’re
53:48
trying to represent the companies that
53:50
we represent us as best as possible but
53:52
are we catching hundred pound fish are

What Catfish Conference does for you:

Popular fishing Expos

We are the organizer of the legendary Catfish + Crappie Conference events (formally Catfish Conference). Look up our next events and be a part of the fastest growing fishing community in the Nation.

We promote Great Anglers and Fishing destinations

Our success if born from you - anglers, YouTube & Social Media Platform creators always find ways to better themselves while sharing their passion and knowledge with the public in wonderful fishing spots.

Discover the latest Catfish and Crappie fishing gear from the leading companies

Our events would not be what they are without the support of the public, but most importantly the fearlessness and expertise of the many entrepreneurs willing to lead the growth of the sport through designing, manufacturing and selling fishing gear. From rods, reels, tackle, apparel, sinkers, bait netting, boats, electronics, rod holders and other boat accessories, it takes a lot to support our community.

Corporate Services

We are in the business of creating large audiences. With the strength of our founder's know-how (individually and through their ventures), we cumulate decades of experience in marketing, sales, entrepreneurship, finance, and the entertainment industry. We share this expertise with you to grow your events (any kind) and outdoor-related companies.
