all right today is july
the third
and the fish should back here on this
little river the fish should uh be done
with all the spawn so but we're gonna
try to see where we can get down at
again
it's some billy goat stuff here

well i'm hoping i can squeeze down here
somewhere but boy i'm gonna tell you i
wore shorts and these itch
weeds i'm probably not going to be no
joke
all right
all right we're halfway there
i'm gonna try to go straight off but i
doubt if i could do that
straight off
kind of looks steep
see if i can't find a work around here
oh i don't wanna go off there
not even accidentally
the river is a little slick
all right
this may be
this may be my best bet
the deer look like they come off right

why can't i
probably because they're a little bit
more agile than my 58 year old butt

i did get a hook in my hand
but other than that
it's not bad

and i'm kind of in the same situation i
was
last time
i think i found our buddy spiderman down
there on that log jam
but like i say it is the the first of
july
and uh
it's not
august like it was last time but
i'm not sweating and dying like i was
the last time
so i'm really pleased with my
uh
success this
last season with my weight loss so
um
we're gonna try to do uh some fishing
and test this little bait out and see
what what we can come up with

all right we're going to try this plus
i think this is the deeper side because
the river's hitting this channel and
coming around
but it's almost in shade too
um
with this cheese bait i find it easier
to put it like little in chunks
and just stab it one time
right through the middle
would i want this one there
is not so deep there
oh my goodness oh
well i don't know what that was but as
soon as it hit the bottom it like pulled
out of my head
oh
what the heck
all right while i'm on the creek
i've always got to look around at some
stuff so we
checking just walking around looking
you never know you might find
arrowheads things like that but
this is something here is pretty cool
and i think it's still alive i'm gonna
try to get it
i think it's still alive i hope i don't

there's a uh
fresh water mussel
now they say these things are good
mussels are good for catfishing but i
don't think you're supposed to use these
for bait so it's kind of cool because
you can look come down here and i see
another one already i'm looking at
straight down there i don't know if it's
alive or dead
but there's a lot of shells down here
but we're gonna put this one back in the
water they actually filter the water
oh
put him in there a little more this one
here i don't believe is
well this one here is dead
not not in there no more
cool shell though
but
like i say guys i think it may be
illegal to use these for uh
for bait
this particular type muscle i think so
you don't get no ideas guys

12 year old again just kind of cruising
around this beach coleman i guess or
riverbank coming

well i'm facing some stuff down here but

it doesn't matter from where you're at
anywhere
you're gonna find a daggone
trout line line somewhere
i'm in the middle of nowhere but

now this is not a big fish nope but i am
out here just
enjoying my day
and uh trying out this little new bait
this is uh probably last year's fish
last year's spawn probably and now this
one here
will
mess you up these little ones like this
it has this
barb on it
and especially this barb they have like
little
jagged razors if you catch them in a
cast net it's almost impossible to get
out so
but we're gonna throw him back and
hopefully he gets back without sticking
me
it's not a big fish guys but man i am
just enjoying my day i don't have to
back a boat in i don't have to see
another person
i'm just
chilling
back in the
woods like i used to when i was a kid
at least now i can get around a little
bit better
but that's what catfishing should be
about folks
should be about
having fun
no matter if it's catching small fish
like that
or some of the largest fish in the world
you know after you catch so many of them
big fish
big fish ain't as fun as you think it
would be anymore
sometimes you got to get to these little
small fish
to enjoy the big ones again
