James Patterson, AKA "Big Cat"

An Icon in the Catfish Industry James Patterson has been catfishing for 55 years. As a 13 year old boy, his dad and uncle took him catfishing on the Tennessee River where they caught small to medium size catfish. He eventually relocated to Memphis, Tennessee where he began fishing the Mississippi River. After a few years he began catching trophy size catfish. He became popular from his numbers of trophy size fish and started his guide service, Mississippi River Guide Service. He introduced his style of fishing to Bill Dance who gave James the nickname "Big Cat." James has fished several tournaments with success. He has been on TV and done seminars sharing his knowledge of various techniques of catfishing. He has dabbled in custom rod building for several years. He has an expert knowledge of what is required of various rods, reels, and terminal tackle to catch and land trophy catfish.
